Waking of the Bears

Yona FrenchHawk will hold the annual Waking of the Bears ceremony. Yona FrenchHawk, Jubilee!’s minister of indigenous ceremony & ritual, will hold the Waking of the Bears Ceremony on March 21st from 7-8:30pm in Jubilee!’s Celebration Center. Each year the Cherokee people come together at the cave system to welcome back the bears from their winter sleep and listen for the messages they bring back from the heart of Mother Earth. Yona, who is a full-blooded Cherokee wisdom keeper and ceremonialist, will share visions, stories and songs of this ancient ritual. Donations are welcome and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
